Probability 8.1

Greetings math 12's, here are some video's to help Mr Howat get you through today's content.

First though, you need to make sure you have the small math 12 book that has revised material for the probability and statistics units.  Please go to the library and ask to sign one out.  You only need it for the next two weeks.

Make sure that you make good use of this book to supplement the lessons you receive in class.  READ the material over as you do your homework!

ex 2

ex 3

To end the lesson, I'd like you to go to the BCMATH.ca site . pick lessons, math 12, chapter 7, 7.2, and go through the presentation.  It will take you through a related powerpoint presentation.  We won't have time to do this again so please pay attention.

All the best!

Solving Trig Eq's Part 1

Hi again.  I wanted to remind you again of the resource you have with the BCMATH.CA site.  Check it often (daily?) for a review of the day's lesson.  Here's a direct link to today's work.

Remember that there is NO substitute for practice.

Angular measurement: The Radian

So I went in to school on Thursday and realized that a number of you had been away for 2 or 3 days, so I though I'd put up a few examples to help you get caught up.  Before I put up some others on 4.2 though, YOU will need to comment on this post and let me know if this helps and what you want to see from section 4.2

An explanation of what a radian is and how it relates to measuring in degrees.

How example 3 on page 188 is done.

Coterminal angles.  I should say here that a principal angle is the smallest angle (of a set of coterminal angles) in standard position.

I hope these helped some of you.  Now post a comment and let me know what you need from section 4.2.

help for math 11H

Hello grade 12's. I'm sorry if this throws a little confusion your way but I needed a quick fix for my 11's and thought it would be quicker to add to your blog than to create a new one. I am hoping to add more for you though so stay posted!

Grade 11's.

Here are a few examples that Mr Mason will show you to help you get along with this new material. Sorry about the Library time. Completely unforeseen. Stuff happens, and I know you can "go with the flow", an essential life skill!

First, let's look at #10 from the lesson that Mr DeLeeuw gave you.

Here is number 11, also from section 4.2. I hope these help!

Let's start with section 4.3

Here is example 1

Here is a little background on the remainder theorem, which can be found on page 252.

And finally, here is example three from page 253.

Now, go onto page 254, and do #'s 2 & 3 a,c,e, 4 - 8 all.

Remember to have a half page summary of what your main question is, where you are in your project, and give me a sense of how you would like to present it.

That's it. See you Monday (I hope!)

Log review

Hi everyone. I thought I would take a little time to show you some of those questions I was hoping to get to last class. You might also want to look at a post I made last year (It's a Log jam) for a link to a good review of logarithms.

Here is a youtube video for number 33 on page 113. You should have your text open and have read the question before starting the video. Let me know if this was useful to you. If so, let others in the class know!

relating graphs and solutions

or another excuse to use some neat technology. I am experimenting with JING which allows me to record a little screencast for your mathematical reviewing pleasure. Please see the following links for a nodel of the standard SINE, COSINE, and TANGENT graphs. I will try to add more as I can but PLEASE feel free to add you own post with a review of the days events.

Maybe this will help

So I think everyone is just as lost when it comes to sine and cosine graphs so I decided to google some help. I got this powerpoint type thing, that actually helps. Check it out here.
