relating graphs and solutions

or another excuse to use some neat technology. I am experimenting with JING which allows me to record a little screencast for your mathematical reviewing pleasure. Please see the following links for a nodel of the standard SINE, COSINE, and TANGENT graphs. I will try to add more as I can but PLEASE feel free to add you own post with a review of the days events.

Maybe this will help

So I think everyone is just as lost when it comes to sine and cosine graphs so I decided to google some help. I got this powerpoint type thing, that actually helps. Check it out here.

Hello again.  As I mentioned last week, The Math Page (see last post) might be a valuable resource for you.  Well  sosmath.com is another site that will help YOU get your head wrapped around the concept of the logarithm.  I'll be available for help after school on Tuesday if a number of you want to come in and have a productive study block.  If you are looking at your homework sheet, you'll have noticed that we are not far from the end of the chapter.  For those of you that are new to the blog, go back and check the links in some of the older posts.  You may find something of value there for you.

It's a Log jam!

Hi Gang,

I hope all went well with Mr. Langridge on Tuesday. I know that logs is all new for most of you but I think you will get along just fine with them.

Here is a site that you might want to check out. TheMathPage would be worth exploring over the space of the next few days.

A Beautiful Weekend!

I hope you were all able to spend some time outside this weekend.  I also hope you spent SOME time studying.

Make a plan to get together with someone you think you will work well with and STUDY tonight or tomorrow.  What does studying mean?  I hope you have found some succesful methods by now, but if you're still searching you might find something worth trying here.  Click on the 13 steps link on the left side of the page for some further information on making the most of your math 12 experience.  Though this was aimed at college students, I found the information (especially on studying) to be spot on.

Please comment.  Let me know what you want from this kind of site.  Like I said at the top of the page (scroll up and look now) this is really meant for you.  Your feedback, comments, and CONTRIBUTIONS will help!

See you tomorrow.

Internet Safety

As this is a school project,  I want to remind you that your "identity" online should only consist of your first name + the initial of your last name IF there are more than one of you with the same first name.  You can change this by signing in and editing your profile.  I would also ask that you look for the check box that keeps your profile private for now or at least provide only the vaguest information about yourself.  I will let you know if the "internet police" think you are being unsafe.

Day 5

So here's is your assignment tonight.

Post a comment showing that you visited the blog tonight.  Extra credit if you post a brief review of what you learned about expansions and compressions today.  Taking the time to put your thoughts into words will help crystallize what you really understand and will help me figure out where I need to spend my time supporting you.  Also, see if you can answer this question.

See you tomorrow.

Oh and by the way, feel free to contact a friend and let them know about this extra credit opportunity!!!   What goes around comes around.  :-)

Day 3

Wow. Time just flew by today. Sorry about the techno hiccups. Thanks for being flexible. For those that were away, we did look at section 1.1 today but did not get through it all. I assigned a reading assignment from page 7 to 10 so that you might be in a better position to understand what we will do on Monday. I hope you all have a safe weekend.

Day 2

Hello all you morning math masters!  It's nice to see you getting on board.  As you choose your posting names, please limit yourself to first names only.  If some of you have the same first name, add an initial for your last name.  See you tomorrow.

Day 1

Hello Math 12's.

We will be using this site to post information relevant to the course. Please feel free to respond but remember that this is public and that your comments can be read by and identified by others, including me. So keep it clean, it IS a family show ;-).

We have a great journey ahead of us and I am TRULY looking forward to it. This blog will be a wonderful addition to your learning and I look forward to reading your contributions. In fact, a small part of your grade will be based on YOUR contributions to this blog as each of you will be asked to contribute a summary of the days lesson at some point throughout the year. Doing so will benefit your classmates by putting the material in a language that your peers might pick up on more than they did when we covered it in class, but more than that, it will encourage you to really think about what was covered in class and present it in a way that others will understand, thereby helping you to learn it even better!
